They make Urushi lacquerware using Okinawan wood such as chinaberry, deigo, and camphor tree,
with the hope that can be used every day.

Their works include bowls that are layered to bring out the texture of the wood grain,
and lacquer mixed with tin to create a dull luster.
With continued use, the luster increases and you can enjoy the change to a soft texture.

In the past, there was a custom in Okinawa that when a girl was born,
a chinaberry tree would be planted in the garden, and when the child got married,
a chest of drawers made from that tree would be used as a wedding accessory.

Trees, which are familiar to Okinawan people,
may tell us what is most important in our lives.
