Osamu Makiya creates pottery based on old pottery from the Ryukyu Kingdom era
that fits modern lifestyles.

Toubou Makiya is one of Okinawa's representative workshops,
with its neat shapes and modern design painted with cobalt.

He use Okinawan clay and a uniquely mixed glaze.
You can feel the sincerity of the work in the careful underglaze blue painting.

He is particular about Okinawan classical techniques,
and also produces traditional items such as shisa and kakubin.

No matter what kind of food you put on it,
it will look beautiful and delicious, so you will want to use it every day.

Born in Okinawa Prefecture.

After graduating from Okinawa Prefectural University of the Arts,
trained in Yomitan ware under Jiseei Omine at Omine studio.
2001
Established "Toubou Makiya" near Shuri Castle.
2013
Move the studio to Nanjyo city.
