Manabu Kaji pursues a variety of expressions using clay and fire in the vast nature of Hokkaido.
This is a Nanban Yakishime jar, which can be said to be Mr. Kaji's signature.
The simple texture of the clay created by firing without applying glaze, and the rich scenery drawn by flames and ash in the kiln are attractive. From the expression where black and green overlap complexly based on reddish brown, you can feel both strength and tranquility.
The generous form that gently narrows from the plump body toward the mouth is also impressive. If you arrange branches or large flowers, it will naturally accept the relaxed appearance of the plants and create a deep scenery in the space.
Even without arranging flowers, it is a work that you can enjoy its presence as a single object.
