Mizuta-san confronts his material—driftwood—while cherishing this innate sensibility.

In this work, the "wings" resting at the tip of a branch extending from the driftwood’s heavy torso maintain a precarious equilibrium, as if they might break at any moment.
Held in a balance that is both exquisite and unstable, the form evokes the lingering echoes of a time when it once soared through the sky.

The sculpture emphasizes fragility and brittleness—the sense that it could vanish at any instant—rather than outward splendor.
Yet, the artist’s gaze, which accepts this vulnerability exactly as it is, captures a quiet beauty that lies just beyond sorrow.
